ABOUT US
Sarina and Berit seek to foster a deeper exploration of wine and spirits, creating a richer relationship with the beverages we enjoy as well as each other.
For this group of women, ženska glava is curiosity, community, and the embrace of life’s complexities with a mission of facilitating meaningful engagement and a good time for everyone.
Sarina Garibović
Operations & Wine
Sarina had already lived in three different countries at the age of ten when she and her family moved to the US as political refugees. So when she began her career it was with the belief that wine was something for “other” people. This attitude, that wine is for those with privilege and wealth, guides Sarina’s belief in facilitating creative access points to wine for anyone who wants it. Her entrepreneurial spirit and relentless fact-finding allow her to see and pursue opportunities for education in less traditional spaces.
Sarina has worked as a sommelier and beverage director in Minneapolis restaurants since 2015. These experiences opened her eyes to the peak fulfillment of connecting through food and wine. She helped found Twin Cities Somms and currently serves as the chair to the board of directors, focusing on contributing to access and equity in beverage education.
Berit Johnson
Cocktails
Berit, “gal about town” Johnson, has worked in the Twin Cities’ service industry from coffee concepts to hotels and cocktail bars, and yeah she has lots of opinions about all of it. Berit is endlessly passionate and borderline obsessive about a lot of things including Wikipedia, browser tabs, your orange cat, and imbuing more authenticity in all things beverage.
Operating from a hyper-focused, no-BS bartending mentality, she has learned that sometimes the simplest, well-made beverages are also the best ones. Berit brings this unapologetic attitude to Ženska Glava and hopes to learn as much as to share. She loves a sidecar, a Hamm’s, and a bump, and getting to say no.
